Senior Technical Engineer

Role Description This part-time remote Senior Technical Engineer role is responsible for providing advanced technical expertise to support the design, integration, and performance of metro systems for Grand Paris ligne 18. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing engineering documentation, analyzing system requirements, and proposing technical solutions that align with safety, reliability, and regulatory standards. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, participating in technical meetings, and providing guidance on system architecture, interfaces, and risk mitigation. The Senior Technical Engineer will also contribute to issue resolution, continuous improvement initiatives, and technical reporting to stakeholders. The position requires independent work, proactive communication, and the ability to manage multiple technical topics in parallel within agreed timelines.

Qualifications

Strong background in rail, metro, or transportation engineering, with experience in systems engineering, signaling, rolling stock, or infrastructure. Proficiency in technical documentation review, requirements analysis, and validation of engineering designs and specifications. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (operations, safety, maintenance, IT) and coordinating technical interfaces between suppliers and internal stakeholders. Solid understanding of safety standards, regulatory frameworks, and quality assurance processes related to public transportation or complex infrastructure projects. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly in written and verbal form. Comfort working remotely, managing priorities independently, and using digital collaboration tools for meetings, documentation, and project tracking. Relevant engineering degree (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Civil Engineering) or equivalent experience; prior experience in large-scale urban rail projects is an asset. Professional proficiency in English; additional language skills, especially French, are beneficial for collaborating with local partners.
