# Principal Software Engineer – Backend ## About the Role Post is seeking a Principal Software Engineer – Backend to help build, scale, and refine the Post.News web and mobile applications. This is a senior individual contributor role within a small, mission-driven, organizationally flat team. You will own backend development end to end, collaborate with cross-functional teams on new features and enhancements, and design high-performance, scalable systems. The role offers significant opportunities to influence technical direction, improve engineering processes, and contribute directly to the evolution of an emerging social platform. ## Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend systems. Own software development initiatives end to end. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize, and implement new features and enhancements. Build and polish backend capabilities supporting Post.News web and mobile applications. Drive technical innovation across backend systems and engineering practices. Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, performance, and scalability. Work independently while collaborating effectively with a small engineering team. Contribute as an individual contributor within a flat organizational structure. Help deliver impactful product improvements for Post.News. ## Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in backend software development. Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance and scalable backend systems. Strong knowledge of TypeScript Node.js Solid.js / Solid Start SSR PostgreSQL / Postgres AWS Serverless Architecture Amazon Redshift Redis Dynamo Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. ## Preferred Qualifications Startup experience. Experience building social applications.
