About the Company

Karias Health is a health benefits platform that combines self-funded healthcare financing with a consumer-focused, AI-enabled navigation ecosystem. The company integrates health coverage, cost containment strategies, concierge support, and proprietary technology to make healthcare simpler, more transparent, predictable, and cost-effective. Karias Health focuses on helping employers manage healthcare costs, giving members greater clarity when navigating care, and enabling brokers to serve as strategic partners. Through data and technology, the company aims to improve member experiences while supporting access to high-value care.

About the Role

Karias Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build AI-powered healthcare products that reduce costs, improve member care, and scale across self-funded employer health plans. This is a foundational engineering position for a US-based professional who will help define the architecture of the company's next-generation, white-label platform. Reporting to the Lead Engineer and working closely with the Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO), the Senior Software Engineer will take ownership of architectural decisions, establish engineering standards, and mentor offshore engineers while remaining actively involved in development. The role is approximately 80% hands-on engineering and 20% technical leadership. The successful candidate will also help establish safe and effective AI-assisted development practices across specification, implementation, testing, and code review, with particular attention to the requirements of a regulated healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assess the existing codebase and infrastructure, documenting recommendations on what should be retained or replaced for the white-label platform. Define and document the platform architecture, including the multi-tenant model, data isolation approach, and per-tenant configuration. Develop and maintain production applications using Ruby on Rails, Python, and AWS services. Make architectural decisions within an established Ruby on Rails codebase, including tenancy scoping, large-scale database migrations, and service boundaries. Build the technical foundation for the planned early-2027 enterprise launch. Mentor offshore engineers and establish standards for code quality, development practices, and technical delivery. Serve as a technical point of accountability for the quality and reliability of platform releases. Apply AI-assisted development tools across specifications, implementation, test generation, and code review. Establish appropriate safeguards for AI-assisted engineering within a regulated environment. Work with the Lead Engineer and CPTO to guide platform direction and align technical decisions with business requirements. Establish and improve engineering standards and CI/CD practices across the team. Initial Deliverables First 30 Days Complete an assessment of the existing codebase and infrastructure, with a written recommendation on what should carry forward into the white-label platform and what should not. First 60 Days Decide on and document the multi-tenancy model and data isolation approach, with agreement from the Lead Engineer and CPTO. Go-Live Preparation Build the multi-tenant platform foundation and establish engineering standards and CI/CD practices with the engineering team.

Production experience with Ruby on Rails, including working within mature codebases and making structural decisions involving tenancy scoping, large-scale migrations, and service boundaries. Demonstrated proficiency in AI-assisted development tools for specifications, implementation, testing, and code review, along with a considered approach to their appropriate use. Strong Python skills and production experience with AWS. Direct experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms, including tenancy, data isolation, and per-tenant configuration decisions.
