Staff Systems Engineer (Remote)

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Systems Engineer (Remote) to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space. This role will focus on designing, configuring, and optimizing core technology infrastructure that supports business operations in a large-scale retail environment. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to improve system performance, strengthen reliability, and deliver automation that streamlines database and infrastructure administration. The position also includes mentoring junior team members and helping shape strategic technology improvements that support long-term operational stability. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 annually

Responsibilities

Lead the design and configuration of IT solutions and infrastructure Research and recommend strategic technology improvements Collaborate with teams to enable infrastructure needs Monitor and optimize system performance and availability Build reusable infrastructure as code elements Stay updated on industry trends and innovations Mentor junior team members and support their development

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field 3+ years of experience in systems engineering Proficiency in DB2 for z/OS and SQL Experience with z/OS ISPF, JCL, and JES2 Familiarity with security protocols such as RACF Ability to develop automation scripts for DB2 administration tasks Experience managing large databases and performance tuning
