About the Opportunity Strategic Sourcing Specialist – Data Centers | Remote Our client, a boutique provider in the AI digital infrastructure space, is seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing Specialist for a 6-month W2 contract opportunity with the potential for extension . This position is fully remote, and candidates may reside anywhere in the U.S. Compensation: Up to $55/hour This opportunity is ideal for a procurement professional experienced in sourcing technically complex data center equipment and working closely with manufacturers, suppliers, and technical stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic sourcing and contracting expertise, along with category experience in one or more of the following areas: Category & Equipment Experience 1. Substation Equipment High- and medium-voltage equipment (HV/MV, e.g., 115 kV to 35 kV) Transformers Circuit breakers Switchgear 2. Data Center Modules Complete system providers, including data center electrical modules Fabricators capable of assembling and manufacturing modules to specification Hot aisle containment 3. Data Center Electrical MV switchgear LV transformers LV switchgear Generators Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) 4. Data Center Mechanical Air-cooled chillers Fan wall units CRAC/CRAH units Dry coolers Trim chillers Pumps

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support end-to-end strategic sourcing and contracting activities for data center equipment and infrastructure. Identify, evaluate, and engage qualified manufacturers, suppliers, system providers, and fabricators. Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned equipment categories. Lead competitive sourcing events, analyze bids, and evaluate supplier proposals. Partner with technical and business stakeholders to understand specifications, requirements, and supplier capabilities. Support commercial negotiations and contracting activities. Conduct supplier and market research to identify sourcing opportunities, supply-market dynamics, and qualified supply partners. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, category management, or contracting, preferably supporting data center categories, capital equipment, infrastructure, electrical, mechanical, or construction. Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end sourcing , including supplier identification, RFx development and execution, bid analysis, supplier selection, negotiations, and contracting. Relevant sourcing experience in at least one of the following areas: Substation/HV-MV equipment Data center modules or prefabricated/modular systems Data center electrical equipment Data center mechanical or cooling equipment Experience sourcing from OEMs, equipment manufacturers, system providers, and/or fabricators. Demonstrated experience evaluating pricing, commercial terms, lead times, and supplier capabilities. Experience partnering with engineering, operations, construction, project management, or other technical stakeholders to translate requirements and specifications into sourcing strategies. Strong communication, analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills. Ability to independently manage multiple sourcing initiatives in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct sourcing experience supporting data center construction, expansion, or infrastructure projects. Hands-on sourcing experience with equipment such as transformers, switchgear, generators, BESS, modular electrical systems, chillers, fan wall units, or CRAC/CRAH systems. Familiarity with long-lead equipment, supplier capacity constraints, and technically complex capital equipment . Experience negotiating commercial agreements for high-value equipment purchases.
