Remote Position

Supply Chain Manager

๐ŸŒ Remote ยท United States ๐Ÿ’ผ Full-time

About the roleThe Sprouting Company makes countertop sprouters and premium sprouting seeds, sold direct to consumers (and via Amazon). Our supply chain was built for a much smaller company, and it shows. You will own the flow of product from factory and seed supplier to the customer's door: hardware made overseas, seed sourced and packed domestically, all landing at our 3PL in Salt Lake City. This is a builder role. You will inherit spreadsheets and email threads and turn them into a system that can grow. What you'll ownDemand and inventory planning Own the demand plan and inventory forecast across sprouters, seeds and accessories, including BFCM and promo spikes. Keep our forecasting tool (Prediko) accurate: open POs, lead times, safety stock, reorder points. Manage product transitions (e.g. V1 to V2 sprouters) so we sell down old stock cleanly and never stock out on the new one. Hardware supply (overseas manufacturing) Run the relationship with our contract manufacturers in China: POs, production schedules, deposits and balance payments, QC, packing lists. Track every container from loading to SLC and keep a live landed-date view the whole company trusts. Coordinate packaging vendors so components never become the bottleneck on a production run. Seed supply and packaging Manage seed sourcing, lot tracking and testing (germination and pathogen) with our growers and labs. Manage seed bag and packaging orders with our domestic packaging suppliers. Logistics and 3PL Own the relationship with our Salt Lake City 3PL: receiving, inventory accuracy, kitting, SLAs and invoices. Manage freight forwarders, customs and duties; find savings on inbound and outbound shipping. Cash, cost and risk Build the PO and payment calendar with finance so inventory buys match cash. Own COGS and landed cost per SKU; flag margin risk early. Maintain backup suppliers and a plan for tariffs, port delays and quality failures. Your first 90 days Days 1-30: Learn every SKU, supplier and open PO. Build one source of truth for inbound inventory and container status. Days 31-60: Rebuild the demand plan with marketing and finance. Set reorder points and safety stock for every SKU. Audit 3PL accuracy and costs. Days 61-90: Lock the BFCM supply plan. Put a weekly supply review in place. Deliver a written 12-month supply roadmap, including backup suppliers. What you bringMust have 4-7 years in supply chain, operations or procurement for a physical consumer product, with at least 2 at a DTC or e-commerce brand. Hands-on experience managing overseas (ideally China) manufacturers through full production runs. Experience running a 3PL relationship and inbound freight, including customs. Strong in spreadsheets; comfortable building a forecast from scratch. A record of scaling a supply chain through a big growth year or a peak season. You stay calm when a container slips, and you tell people early. Nice to have Food, agriculture or supplement supply chains (lot traceability, food safety testing). Shopify plus a forecasting tool such as Prediko, Inventory Planner or Cogsy. Mandarin. Experience at a startup under 50 people.
