Title Abstractor and Reviewer
Title Abstractor/Reviewer – Legal Background Blue & Gold Contracting is expanding its Land Division and seeking an experienced Title Abstractor/Reviewer for current work and upcoming projects. Our Land Division provides title research, due diligence, and related land support with Appalachian experience and nationwide reach. This is a remote, 1099 independent-contractor opportunity for a title professional with a legal background who can conduct detailed research, analyze ownership, and review title reports for accuracy and completeness. Strong West Virginia title knowledge is required for the work currently being developed, but future assignments may involve other states and regions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed title research and examine recorded documents.
- Analyze surface, mineral, leasehold, and other ownership interests.
- Review chains of title, ownership calculations, and supporting documentation.
- Identify title gaps, inconsistencies, and potential issues.
- Review title reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Clearly communicate findings, questions, and required corrections.
- Produce organized, professional, and review-ready work.
- Apply the title standards and reporting requirements applicable to each project and jurisdiction.
Qualifications
- Law degree required.
- Admission to a state bar is not required.
- At least 10 years of direct land or title industry experience.
- Thorough knowledge of West Virginia title.
- Strong experience with title research, ownership analysis, and report review.
- Experience in additional states or jurisdictions is beneficial.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and written communication.
Travel Certain assignments may involve travel to a courthouse, recorder’s office, client location, or another project-related location. Courthouse and project-related travel may be requested, but it is optional and is not required for this opportunity. Engagement This is a remote, 1099 independent-contractor opportunity.
