Veterinary Nutrition & Professional Services Specialist Remote | Full-Time | Approximately 9–13 U.S. Conferences Annually

About the Role

Are you an experienced veterinary technician who loves veterinary medicine but is ready to take your career beyond the clinic? Chi Dog is looking for a Veterinary Nutrition & Professional Services Specialist to join our growing team. This role is designed for someone who wants to use their veterinary knowledge every day while transitioning into the business side of the pet health and nutrition industry. You’ll work directly with pet parents, veterinary professionals, and the Chi Dog team—helping clients navigate their pets’ nutritional needs, representing Chi Dog at veterinary conferences across the country, supporting veterinary partnerships, and assisting with the operational work that keeps those relationships running smoothly. This is a remote position with significant independent travel and reports directly to Chi Dog’s Chief Operating Officer. What You’ll Do The role is approximately 50% client and nutritional support and 50% veterinary partnerships, administrative work, data management, and conference responsibilities. The balance will vary depending on conference schedules and business needs. Client & Nutritional Support You’ll spend a significant portion of your time speaking directly with pet parents by phone and through digital support channels. You’ll listen to each client’s individual situation, gather relevant information about their dog or cat—including medical history, current concerns, dietary needs, medications when relevant, and their veterinarian’s recommendations—and help them understand which Chi Dog diet may be most appropriate based on Chi Dog’s established nutritional guidelines and product recommendations. You’ll be expected to Use your veterinary background to understand and discuss client concerns confidently and compassionately. Explain Chi Dog’s diets, ingredients, feeding philosophy, and nutritional recommendations in understandable terms. Help clients navigate diet selection and feeding transitions using Chi Dog’s established protocols. Recognize situations that should be referred back to the client’s veterinarian or escalated internally. Adapt your communication style to each individual client. Provide a highly personalized experience rather than relying on scripted responses. Communicate effectively with clients who may be worried, frustrated, confused, or unfamiliar with veterinary terminology. Accurately document conversations, recommendations, follow-ups, and relevant pet information. Veterinary Partnerships, Data & Administration Approximately half of the role will involve supporting Chi Dog’s veterinary relationships and internal operations. Responsibilities may include Supporting existing veterinary partners and developing relationships with new veterinary professionals. Following up with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, hospitals, and prospective partners. Entering and maintaining accurate client, veterinary, conference, and business data. Maintaining organized records and documentation. Performing routine administrative and operational tasks. Learning and working across multiple software platforms and online systems. Following up on leads generated through veterinary conferences. Assisting with projects and other operational needs as Chi Dog continues to grow. Previous experience with Chi Dog’s specific software is not required. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with technology and can learn new programs quickly. Veterinary Conference Travel This position includes travel to approximately 9–13 veterinary conferences throughout the United States each year. You must be comfortable traveling independently and confidently navigating: Airports and connecting flights Airline disruptions and schedule changes Rental-car facilities Uber/rideshare transportation Hotels Unfamiliar cities Convention centers Conference schedules Booth setup and breakdown Shipping, supplies, and other event logistics Conference travel may include weekends and multi-day trips. Chi Dog covers business travel expenses. Employees should not be expected to personally absorb the cost of traveling for the company. Company-paid or reimbursed travel includes airfare, hotels, baggage fees, rental vehicles, rideshare/ground transportation, and other approved business-travel expenses. Meals are covered through Chi Dog’s established per-diem policy. Any personal meal spending above the provided per diem is the employee’s responsibility. Who We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is resourceful, adaptable, organized, personable, and highly self-directed. Because this is a remote position with independent travel, you need to be comfortable working without constant supervision. When something unexpected happens, your first instinct should be to assess the situation, identify possible solutions, and take appropriate action. The right person can also recognize the difference between a problem they can solve independently and something that needs to be escalated. Preferred Background Veterinary technician experience in a clinical setting RVT, LVT, or CVT preferred, but not required Several years of hands-on veterinary experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of veterinary terminology and common canine and feline medical conditions Interest in companion-animal nutrition Experience communicating with pet owners Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong phone communication skills Accurate data-entry and documentation skills Comfortable learning new computer programs and software Comfortable working across multiple digital systems throughout the day Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to work independently in a remote environment Ability to adjust communication and service to each individual client’s needs Comfortable traveling independently throughout the United States Valid driver’s license and ability to operate rental vehicles during business travel Comfortable standing and interacting with veterinary professionals for extended periods during conferences Willingness to assist with conference booth setup, breakdown, materials, and logistics You’ll Probably Love This Role If… You love veterinary medicine but want something different from traditional clinical practice. You still want your veterinary knowledge to matter. You enjoy talking to pet owners and helping them understand complicated information. You’re interested in nutrition and the business side of the veterinary industry. You’re comfortable picking up the phone and having real conversations with clients. You can land in an unfamiliar city, pick up a rental car, find the hotel and convention center, solve an unexpected problem, and keep moving. You don’t need someone looking over your shoulder to get your work done. You enjoy learning new technology and aren’t intimidated by unfamiliar software. And you’re excited about building a long-term career in the veterinary and pet nutrition industry rather than leaving veterinary medicine altogether.
