Role Description The Vice President of Finance and Operations is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing financial strategy, reporting, and operational excellence across Baobab Ventures and its portfolio. This role manages budgeting and forecasting, prepares and reviews financial statements, and ensures accurate and timely financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders. The VP will design and improve operational processes, coordinate fund administration, support deal execution, and collaborate with investment and portfolio support teams. Day-to-day work includes financial analysis, performance tracking of portfolio companies, cash flow management, compliance oversight, and implementing tools and workflows that enhance efficiency and transparency. This person will also contribute to strategic planning, risk management, and investor communications, helping to build a scalable, data-driven finance and operations function.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Finance with experience in investment, fund, or corporate finance environments. Demonstrated expertise in Financial Planning and budgeting, including forecasting and scenario analysis. Proficiency in preparing, interpreting, and reviewing Financial Statements and related documentation. Experience in Financial Reporting to internal leadership and external stakeholders, including investors and regulators. Advanced Analytical Skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights and recommendations. Experience building and optimizing operational processes, systems, and workflows in fast-paced organizations. Knowledge of venture capital structures, fund administration, and portfolio performance metrics is highly beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) are a plus. Comfort working in a fully remote, globally distributed team, with strong communication and collaboration skills. High level of integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in an entrepreneurial environment.
