Vice President, South Central Zone Leader - Underwriting

🌍 Remote · United States 💼 Full-time

Vice President, South Central Zone Leader – Underwriting Vice President, South Central Zone Leader – Underwriting Ledgebrook is looking for a genuine heavyweight to lead its South Central underwriting operation. This is not a conventional underwriting management position. We need an established senior leader with the market presence, technical authority and commercial ambition to take full ownership of the region and run it as a business. You will own the strategy, growth, profitability and underwriting performance of the South Central region. You will be expected to build a high-performing team, command credibility with major wholesale brokers and make clear decisions about where Ledgebrook should deploy capacity—and where it should not. This is a senior appointment with substantial authority, visibility and accountability. The mandate includes: Taking full ownership of South Central production, profitability and portfolio performance Setting and executing an ambitious regional growth strategy Building Ledgebrook’s presence and reputation across the South Central wholesale market Developing influential relationships with senior leaders at key wholesale brokers Leading, recruiting and developing a first-class regional underwriting team Providing decisive technical leadership on complex casualty risks and referrals Maintaining a detailed understanding of pricing, submission flow, hit ratios, limits deployment and loss trends Identifying attractive opportunities for growth while protecting underwriting discipline Working closely with executive leadership, actuarial, claims, product and reinsurance Playing a significant role in the wider development of Ledgebrook’s underwriting platform We are looking for someone who brings: Deep commercial casualty underwriting expertise Significant experience within E&S or specialty insurance A demonstrable record of building and profitably growing a regional underwriting business Strong, established relationships across the South Central wholesale broker market The technical standing to command the respect of experienced underwriters and make decisions on complex casualty exposures The commercial instincts to identify and convert high-quality opportunities Experience attracting, leading and retaining strong underwriting talent The judgment to balance ambitious production targets with disciplined risk selection Experience across general liability, excess casualty, construction, habitational, hospitality and manufacturing risks would be particularly relevant. A background within an MGA, delegated-authority platform or entrepreneurial specialty carrier would also be highly valuable. This opportunity is most likely to suit someone already running a substantial regional underwriting operation, business unit or casualty portfolio who wants greater ownership and the opportunity to build. It is not a developmental step for someone moving into senior leadership for the first time. Nor will it suit someone accustomed to operating through several layers of approval. Ledgebrook is entrepreneurial, data-driven and growing quickly. The successful individual will have considerable influence over the direction of the South Central business—but will also be expected to deliver meaningful, profitable results. If you have the credibility, relationships and track record to build a leading South Central operation, contact me directly for a confidential conversation.
