WordPress Developer Needed: Drupal-to-WordPress Site Migration & Expansion
Project Summary We're migrating our existing website from Drupal to WordPress. We'll be retaining some existing content, but also expanding the site with new pages, including dedicated landing pages built for SEO, Google Ads, and visibility in AI-driven search (AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.). All new page content/copy is being developed in-house; we need a developer to build and implement the pages, not write the content. We're looking for an experienced WordPress developer to lead the technical build and migration. The site is self-hosted, and you'll be working alongside our internal project manager, who will oversee timelines and priorities. What we need from you: - Proven experience migrating sites from Drupal to WordPress (please share specific examples) - Strong WordPress development skills — theme setup/customization, plugin configuration, and self-hosted environment management - Experience mapping and migrating existing content, media, and URL structures without losing SEO equity (301 redirects, metadata, etc.) - Experience building new pages/landing pages within an existing site architecture, based on content and copy we provide - Working knowledge of on-page SEO best practices, including landing pages built for organic search and Google Ads campaigns - Familiarity with optimizing content structure for AI-driven search and generative engines (schema markup, structured data, clear content hierarchy, etc.) - Experience integrating and configuring Google Analytics (GA4), including goal/conversion tracking for landing pages - Comfortable managing a self-hosted WordPress install (server/hosting familiarity a plus) - Clear, proactive communication — you'll be reporting to our PM and flagging issues early Engagement details: - Project-based engagement, with potential for ongoing maintenance work afterward for the right fit - Kickoff call to review current Drupal site, hosting setup, content plan, and priorities - Reporting through our PM on progress and milestones To apply, please include: - Your experience with Drupal-to-WordPress migrations specifically (not just general WP dev experience) - Examples of past migration projects, ideally with before/after site links - Examples of landing pages you've built for SEO, Google Ads, or AI-search visibility - Your experience with Google Analytics (GA4) setup and conversion tracking - Your approach to preserving SEO during a platform migration - Your estimated timeline and hourly rate
