Accounting Manager
About The Role The Accounting Manager owns the month-end and quarter-end close for a fast-moving technology company, ensuring financial statements are accurate, GAAP-compliant, and delivered on schedule. This role matters because investors, auditors, and the SEC timeline all depend on it: the Accounting Manager is the control point for revenue recognition, SOX compliance, and the integrity of the general ledger that drives every financial decision.
Key Responsibilities
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, delivering accurate financial statements within a 5-business-day close window Apply ASC 606 and ASC 842 guidance to complex revenue and lease arrangements, documenting positions and coordinating technical accounting reviews Manage SOX 404 compliance: maintain internal control documentation, execute control testing, and remediate deficiencies with process owners Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and flux analyses across prepaid assets, accruals, fixed assets, and intercompany Support external audits and quarterly reviews, serving as the primary point of contact for auditor requests and PBC lists Partner with FP&A and revenue teams on bookings-to-billings reconciliation, deferred revenue schedules, and SEC reporting support Drive automation and process improvements in NetSuite and the broader close toolchain, reducing manual work and close timelines What We Are Looking For 5-8 years of combined public accounting and industry experience, including Big 4 or national firm audit background Deep working knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and SOX internal control frameworks Hands-on experience with NetSuite, Oracle, or a comparable ERP, including ownership of close modules and reporting Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; active CPA license strongly preferred Demonstrated ability to manage a close calendar, prioritize under deadline pressure, and develop direct reports Bonus: SEC reporting experience (10-K/10-Q drafting), multi-entity consolidation, or technical accounting memo writing
