Appearance Attorney – Civil Litigation (Independent Contractor, As-Needed)

Manoukian Law Firm is a plaintiff’s personal injury practice handling motor vehicle, premises liability, and other injury matters throughout Los Angeles County and surrounding courts. We are looking for a California-licensed attorney to cover routine court appearances on an independent contractor, as-needed basis. This is not a staff position. You will be engaged per appearance, you are free to take work from other firms, and you set your own schedule outside of the hearing times you accept. Most months involve roughly 5–8 appearances, the majority of them morning calendar calls. What you’ll cover Case management conferences, trial setting conferences, status conferences, and OSC hearings Continued hearings and routine law-and-motion matters with a tentative ruling Occasional deposition coverage (defending plaintiff and treating-physician depositions) Remote appearances through LACourtConnect and in-person appearances as the department requires How it works You receive a one-page hearing memo for each appearance (case status, what to ask for, acceptable continuance dates) and the filed statement You send a brief written report the same day You invoice per appearance; mileage reimbursed for appearances outside Los Angeles County

Requirements

Active member in good standing of the State Bar of California At least 2 years of California civil litigation experience; plaintiff’s personal injury experience preferred Current professional liability insurance (you carry your own policy) Familiarity with LASC departments and LACourtConnect Comfortable reading a file quickly and representing the matter accurately to the court This is an independent contractor engagement, not employment. The contractor controls the manner and means of performing each appearance, is not restricted from working for other firms, and is responsible for their own licensing, insurance, equipment, and taxes.
