Job Description
Role Summary We are seeking a Technical Architect with proven experience leading on-premises application migrations to Microsoft Azure and performing application assessments to support modernization initiatives. This role will partner with product, engineering, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to evaluate current-state applications, define target-state architecture, and lead migration execution using industry best practices (e.g., rehost, refactor, replatform, retire, retain) and Azure-native services. Roles & Responsibilities Lead application discovery and assessment across portfolio (architecture, dependencies, performance, resiliency, compliance, and operational readiness). Classify applications using modernization strategies: rehost / replatform / refactor / retire / retain / replace. Conduct dependency mapping (upstream/downstream systems, interfaces, data flows, batch jobs, middleware, identity). Evaluate non-functional requirements (NFRs): availability, scalability, security, observability, RTO/RPO, and performance. Create modernization roadmaps and phased migration waves, including effort, risk, cost, and sequencing. Produce architecture artifacts: current-state and target-state diagrams, deployment topology, and integration patterns. Azure Migration Architecture & Execution Define and govern Azure landing zone architecture (subscription model, networks, identity, governance, security). Design cloud architectures for: Compute: Azure App Service, AKS, VMs, Functions Data: Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instance, Cosmos DB, Storage Integration: API Management, Service Bus/Event Grid, Logic Apps Lead migrations using tools and frameworks like Azure Migrate, CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and automation. Establish migration standards for configuration, secrets, certificate management, patching, and environment promotion. Work closely with DevOps teams to implement: Infrastructure as Code (Bicep/Terraform/ARM) CI/CD (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions) Environment and release governance Security, Compliance & Operational Excellence Ensure solutions align with enterprise controls: RBAC, managed identities, key management, encryption, secure networking. Implement observability with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, dashboards and alerting. Define DR and resiliency patterns including multi-region options, backup strategies, and failover testing. Drive operational readiness: runbooks, SOPs, support model, SLAs, and knowledge transfer.
