Contents: About Blinter Magazine About the positions About Blinter Magazine Blinter Magazine covers all things People + Planet, and we are proudly run and operated entirely by volunteers. We tell place-based stories that inspire readers to see the world and care about the state of it. Named after the Scottish word for “glimmer” or “flicker,” this publication celebrates the way that nature (humans included) can leave us wonderstruck. Not only does our name capture the beauty of our world, but it pays homage to our northern roots. With origins in the north – specifically the Pacific Northwest, Scandinavia, and the Celtic Isles – we focus on storytelling that covers this part of the world. However, we make it a point to explore every corner of our planet, so our tales reach further than our geographic history. Our beats are: Climate & Ecology To See the World Sustainable Foodways Art & Culture We also publish interviews conducted with inspiring people who are making the world a better place. Our article topics range from Nordic berry-picking practices to how biophilic design is changing cities to the cultural weight of desiccation. We pride ourselves on telling stories that conscious readers would want to read. Blinter Magazine is for people who like to forage just as much as they like to visit art museums in the city. It’s for people who are inspired by zero-waste fashion designers, artivists, and Norwegian film. It’s for those who are curious about earthships and the best places to camp in Puget Sound. It’s for those who go to Disneyland and head straight for Tarzan’s treehouse and those who cry over land art. It's for those who are curious about the "who" behind climate change: whom it's harming, who is causing it, and who is doing something about it. We lead with a human touch across all beats, and value strong imagery, emotional language, and inspired angles, making it a point not to practice the adjective-less and neutral style of other outlets. This is journalism with feeling. This is Blinter.
