Cartographer / Life Safety Illustrator

• Use Adobe Suite, AutoCad, Revit and GIS platforms to create and produce floor plans, maps and illustrations that protect people from fire, severe weather and security threats.
• Collaborate with our project management team to understand scope of the project and to organize the project accordingly.
• Learn fire code and security best practices to create safe, compliant illustrations.
• Maintain a high degree of accuracy to ensure high safety standards.
• Retain accurate records to account for billable time and costs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Safety Illustrator Qualifications/Skills:

• Ability to create technical safety maps and illustrations based on sketches, mechanical blueprints, and drawings.
• Ability to accurately and consistently complete work on schedule and with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of mechanical blueprints and drawings.
• Highly proficient with Adobe Illustrator, AutoCad, Revit and GIS platforms a plus.
• Knowledge of building code and fire code a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Curiosity to learn.

Education and Experience:

• Associate or higher degree in Technical Art or equivalent work experience in illustration or drafting preferred.
• Knowledge of building code and fire code a plus.
• 1-3 years of illustration and project management experience preferred, but we will train the right person.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
