About the position The Chemistry Specialist helps fine-tune large language models using chemistry expertise. The role involves creating problems to evaluate AI performance, assessing model answers, and working with researchers to improve benchmarks across chemistry topics from undergraduate through PhD level. No AI experience is required. This is a fully remote contract role with defined start and end dates. Work is flexible, with assignments of up to 40 hours per week. The pay rate is \$100+ per hour, depending on the role and candidate expertise. Shortlisted applicants complete an evaluation before selection.
Responsibilities
- Design advanced chemistry problems to test AI performance, including problems in areas such as chemical engineering and biochemistry.
- Develop clear, step-by-step solutions using rigorous logic.
- Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy and quality of reasoning.
- Collaborate with researchers to refine benchmarks across undergraduate- to PhD-level chemistry topics.
Requirements
- A PhD, in progress or completed, in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Strong chemistry reasoning and problem-solving skills across advanced domains.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly in writing and provide structured feedback.
