Chief Audit Officer

REQUIRED We will only consider candidates with executive-level experience at a Big Four accounting firm. Partner, Principal or Managing Director within an audit practice. You must have signed off on large enterprise engagements, carried professional responsibility for the work, and sat in front of audit committees. Active CPA or equivalent qualification required. If your background is internal audit, compliance or advisory without audit practice leadership, this is not the right position. Vaudit verifies and audits every vendor invoice with a team of AI agents, across advertising, AI and inference, cloud, SaaS, shipping and payments. $4B+ audited. $100M+ recovered. Every finding we produce becomes a recovery claim against a vendor. That claim is read by the client’s finance team, challenged by the vendor’s legal team, and in many cases reviewed by the client’s external auditors. The work has to hold up. As Chief Audit Officer you own that standard. You are the professional authority behind what we assert, and the reason a Fortune 500 controller accepts a finding generated by software. Responsibilties: Audit standards and methodology

• The audit framework underpinning every detection line, and the evidence standard a finding must meet before it leaves the building
• Documentation and working-paper standards sufficient to withstand vendor challenge and external auditor review
• Quality control and review process over AI-generated findings — the equivalent of engagement quality review, built for an automated environment
• Materiality, sampling and scope judgments as audit coverage extends into new spend categories

Professional credibility

• Independence and professional conduct framework
• The technical authority in front of CFOs, controllers, audit committees and client external auditors
• Our position with regulators, standard setters and the profession as automated audit matures
• Technical accounting judgment where recoveries affect client reporting

Partnership with engineering

• Translating professional audit standards into detection logic the engineering team can build against
• Challenging what the agents assert, and defining where human judgment is required
• Building toward formal attestation capability over time

What You Bring

• Partner, Principal or Managing Director at a Big Four firm, within audit
• Active CPA or equivalent
• A record of leading complex enterprise audit engagements with full professional responsibility
• Credibility and presence with audit committees and finance leadership
• Genuine comfort with data, automation and technology in an audit context — you do not need to build it, but you need to interrogate it
• The judgment to know where the profession’s standards apply directly, and where they need rethinking for an automated environment
• Willingness to work at startup pace with a distributed team
