Cloud Enginee - (Remote, Entry-Level)
Role Description This is a part-time, remote Cloud Engineer (Entry-Level) role supporting the infrastructure and technology needs of the IPM Cell at IC&SR, IIT Madras. The Cloud Engineer will assist in designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based environments used for internal applications, data management, and collaborative tools. Day-to-day tasks may include configuring virtual machines and containers, managing storage and databases, monitoring system performance and security, and supporting backups and disaster recovery processes. The role also involves working with Linux-based servers, implementing automation scripts, collaborating with software development teams, and documenting configurations and procedures. The position is suitable for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in cloud computing and infrastructure management within an academic and research-focused environment.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess foundational skills in Cloud Computing and Infrastructure, including understanding of cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP), virtual machines, storage, and networking concepts. Candidates should possess skills in Linux and Databases, including basic command-line operations, system administration tasks, and familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases. Candidates should possess skills related to Software Development, such as scripting or programming in languages like Python, Bash, or similar, and experience with version control tools (e.g., Git). Candidates should possess good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to learn new tools and technologies quickly. Relevant academic background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field at the undergraduate level (completed or ongoing) is preferred. Strong communication skills, ability to work independently in a remote setting, and a collaborative mindset for working with cross-functional teams are beneficial. Familiarity with security best practices, automation tools (such as CI/CD pipelines or infrastructure-as-code frameworks), and prior internship or project experience in cloud or system administration will be an added advantage.
