Remote Position

Computer Systems Analyst

🌍 Remote · United States 💼 Full-time

Position Summary The Computer Systems Analyst analyzes engineering, business, and data-processing requirements for an enterprise telecommunications client’s network software platforms—a network function software marketplace, a cloud infrastructure workflow management application, a network function verification and configuration audit platform, and an enterprise automation orchestration platform—and develops and implements software solutions to complex application, integration, and workflow problems. The analyst performs systems integration functions, expands and modifies existing systems to serve new purposes and improve workflow, designs data models and APIs, develops and documents system design and test procedures, and implements new system capabilities. All work constitutes application development of new software functionality under fixed-scope statements of work; the position does not perform ongoing production support, help desk, or routine system administration. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Approximate allocation of time is shown for each duty area. Duties align with O*NET-SOC 15-1211.00 task statements. Systems analysis, requirements definition, and solution design (25%) Analyze information processing and computation needs across the client’s marketplace, workflow management, verification, and automation platforms using structured analysis, data modeling, and information engineering techniques. Confer with client engineering stakeholders regarding the nature of the information processing needs a program or integration is to address; gather and document requirements; consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles. Define the goals of each system module and devise flow charts, logical flow matrices, and data dictionaries describing the operational steps of programs, including translating manual provisioning and deployment procedures into standardized automation designs. Specify inputs accessed by the system—REST and vendor APIs, SFTP file feeds, spreadsheet/CSV sources, and program milestone, inventory, and telemetry databases—and plan the distribution and use of results. Design relational database schemas (PostgreSQL), tracking tables, workflow state definitions, error-handling structures, and secure API contracts defining validation constraints and endpoint rules. Development and modification of application systems (35%) Marketplace platform: develop a staging artifact repository with an automated security image-scanning and certification workflow controlling promotion to production; develop agentic AI search and chat components (including a model-context-protocol server) integrated with the platform back end; develop an AI document indexing and chat back end over uploaded package and product documentation; develop external vendor access features, a security-scan view interface, platform scale-out code, and a re-engineered certification workflow engine. Workflow management application: expand and modify the system to serve new purposes—develop API integrations for milestone actual-date synchronization, telemetry file transfer and order-identifier retrieval from an inventory/telemetry system, capacity data ingestion from spreadsheet sources, and outbound telemetry reporting; develop infrastructure install metrics reports, soft-delete logic for build items, notification rules for milestone tasks, a project-type filter across reports, automated capacity mapping for cluster build items, and migration of a transport module into the application. Workflow management application: re-engineer project summary database query routines for multi-filter combinations; design database connection pooling and isolation logic; develop a search-engine (Elasticsearch) integration; develop API authorization middleware, Single Sign-On integration, and secrets-management (Vault) retrieval logic; develop automated kickback integration with a service project management system. Verification platform: develop API definitions and fetcher code integrating DNS and other network applications; develop standalone regression-test suites for fetcher code across onboarded network functions; develop JSON editor tooling for verification routine construction; develop and integrate automated verification and configuration-audit software modules onboarding multiple network application families, with developer enablement documentation and demonstrations. Systems integration and automation engineering (20%) Coordinate and link computer systems within the organization to increase compatibility so information can be shared: integrate the workflow application with inventory, telemetry, project management, and external deployment tracking systems through automated bidirectional interfaces. Design and develop infrastructure-automation playbooks (Ansible) and orchestration-platform execution templates for network element deployment to designated sites via jump servers, automated backout, automated deployment verification, vendor image delivery, operator lifecycle (deploy/upgrade/delete) with database schema and error handling, and Day-1 post-configuration of proxy components. Develop proof-of-concept user-account lifecycle automation for a network management system; develop and integrate automation workflow code for firewall and load-balancer package deployment. Testing, documentation, and quality standards (15%) Develop, document, and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards; author Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation and developer enablement materials for delivered automation. Validate automation templates and modules in development, test, and first-office-application environments prior to production implementation; develop automated end-to-end (Playwright) test suites with CI/CD pipeline (GitLab Runner) integration. Engineer and validation-test database schema migration scripts and configure automated alerting rules for the database cluster as part of production release packages. Technical evaluation and implementation planning (5%) Assess the usefulness of pre-developed application packages, frameworks, and open-source components (search engines, test frameworks, monitoring and alerting tools, AI document-processing frameworks) and adapt them to the client environment. Read manuals, technical reports, and vendor documentation to develop programs that meet requirements; recommend software packages and approaches. Participate in status reporting and milestone acceptance reviews with the client-designated project manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. Two (2) years of experience in systems analysis and software development, including database/API design and full-stack or back-end development. Demonstrated experience with: relational databases (PostgreSQL) and SQL; RESTful API design and integration; a modern programming language (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java); Git-based version control; and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab or equivalent). Ability to analyze requirements, produce data models and technical design documentation, and communicate with technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with infrastructure automation (Ansible), container and virtualization platforms, and telecommunications or network function (NF) environments. Experience with React-based front-end development, Elasticsearch, HashiCorp Vault, SSO/OAuth integration, and Playwright or comparable E2E test frameworks. Experience with AI/LLM application components (agentic frameworks, model-context-protocol servers, document indexing frameworks). Working Conditions Standard business hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday. The position is remote; the employee must maintain a private, secure home work space, connect to client systems via VPN, and comply with the client’s work-at-home security requirements. No travel is required. The position is classified as exempt under the FLSA computer-employee and professional exemptions. Duty allocations are estimates and may be adjusted within the scope of SOC 15-1211.00. Saturn Business Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
