Remote Position

Data Quality Analyst

🌍 Remote · United States 💼 Full-time

Job Description

Who We AreHaloMD specializes in Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) through The No Surprises Act and state regulations for out-of-network healthcare providers, leveraging advanced technology and deep industry expertise to secure fair, optimized reimbursements. About the RoleData quality issues in this organization surface two ways: proactively, through an automated rules engine that continuously scans core data systems for violations, and reactively, through tickets, forms, and ad hoc reports submitted by business users who spot something wrong. Both paths generate technical findings and root cause analysis but a gap remains between diagnosis and resolution. Someone has to translate technical findings into business-ready communication, drive the right owner to act, and confirm the fix actually worked. This role owns that last mile. It is a hybrid data quality analyst / business analyst position who needs to be comfortable enough in data and SQL to understand and repackage technical findings, and strong enough in stakeholder management to hold data owners accountable to fix dates and confirm resolution with evidence, not assumptions. Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and triage incoming data quality issues from both intake channels from both proactive findings generated by the automated rules engine and reactive issues submitted by business users through tickets, forms, or ad hoc reports and route each to the appropriate next step.
  • Take root cause analysis output (from either intake channel) and convert it into clean, consistent, business-readable formats, briefs, one-pagers, tracker entries and tailor them to a technical or non-technical audience.
  • Validate findings with relevant business stakeholders before escalation, confirming the issue, its impact, and its priority are correctly understood and agreed upon.
  • Identify and engage the appropriate data owner(s) for issues outside the team's direct remediation authority, and package a clear, actionable brief for each handoff.
  • Proactively follow up with data owners to secure remediation commitments, track them to resolution, and escalate stalled items through appropriate channels.
  • Coordinate with data engineering to trigger re-runs of the relevant data quality rules once a data owner reports a fix, independently verifying the issue is resolved before it is closed.
  • Maintain a single source of truth (e.g., a ticketing or tracking board) showing the status of every data quality finding, reactive or proactive, from initial intake through business validation, remediation, and confirmed closure.
  • Produce recurring status reporting and executive-ready summaries on open findings, aging issues, and remediation trends across data domains.
  • Flag recurring patterns or systemic issues back to the data quality rules and analysis team to inform new rule development or process improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in data quality analysis, business analysis, or a hybrid analyst role involving both technical data investigation and stakeholder communication.
  • Working proficiency in SQL sufficient to independently read, sanity-check, and query results from a modern cloud data warehouse.
  • Demonstrated experience translating technical or data findings into clear, non-technical business communication.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to hold business owners accountable to commitments without direct authority over them.
  • Experience with issue tracking and workflow tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow) to manage findings through a defined lifecycle.
  • Excellent written communication skills; this role produces briefs and summaries that go directly to business and data-owner audiences.
  • Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., for querying data, drafting briefs, or summarizing findings) to work faster and cut down on manual, repetitive steps.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, connecting the dots between raw findings, root cause conclusions, and business impact, regardless of which intake channel a finding originated from.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, or claims data environments.
  • Familiarity with data governance concepts (data ownership, stewardship, master data management).
  • Experience with reporting tools for building status dashboards.
  • Prior experience working in a distributed team model with offshore analytical counterparts.
  • Clear communication skills and experience presenting to business owners and executive-level stakeholders.
Success Metrics
  • Time from finding intake (reactive or proactive) to business validation.
  • Time from data-owner assignment to remediation commitment, and to confirmed fix.
  • Percentage of closed findings independently re-validated via a rule re-run (target: 100%).
  • Reduction in recurring or repeat findings across data domains over time.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction with the clarity and usability of briefs and communications.
