Data Scientist - Machine Learning & NLP
Cogniify Analytics is looking for a Data Scientist with strong experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, NLP and large-scale data analysis. In this role, you will build and improve machine learning models that help make products more relevant and personalized for users. You will work with large datasets, develop predictive models and recommendation systems, and use experiments and statistical analysis to measure the impact of your work. This is a hands-on data science role where you will work closely with product managers, software engineers and designers to turn ideas into working solutions. The position is remote within the United States. Candidates who can work with Pacific Time hours are preferred.
What You Will Do
Develop, test and improve machine learning models for personalization, recommendations and user relevance. Apply supervised and unsupervised learning, statistical modeling, data mining and NLP to real-world problems. Work with large datasets using Python, SQL, Hive and Spark SQL. Perform data extraction, cleaning, transformation and preparation for machine learning, including ETL tasks. Build and refine model features using feature engineering, statistical methods and domain knowledge. Develop predictive models using techniques such as classification, regression, decision trees, neural networks and recommendation algorithms. Apply deep learning, embeddings and text representations to NLP, language understanding and personalization problems. Design and run A/B tests and other experiments, analyze results and measure the impact of model changes. Work with product, engineering and design teams to test new ideas and develop early working versions. Communicate findings, model performance and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Keep up with developments in machine learning, NLP and AI, and identify practical ways to improve products.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Science or a related technical field. At least 4 years of industry experience in data science and applied machine learning. Strong hands-on programming experience with Python, including libraries such as pandas, NumPy and scikit-learn. Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets using Hive and Spark SQL. Practical experience building, evaluating and improving machine learning models. Experience with statistical modeling, classification, regression, decision trees, neural networks, text mining or recommender systems. Hands-on knowledge of NLP, deep learning or embedding-based representations for language understanding, recommendations or personalization. Experience with feature engineering, model evaluation, experimentation and A/B testing. Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical findings and business impact clearly.
