Programmers.io is currently looking for an "EDI Architect" Remote, with approximately 40% travel/yearly to client locations . Full Time Role with benefits Role Overview We are looking for an experienced EDI architect based in the United States to lead client-facing EDI architecture, solution design, technical discovery, and pre-sales. You will work directly with clients to understand their EDI landscape, trading partner integrations, pain points, and future needs, then define scalable architectures and help clients improve or modernize their B2B environments. You will work closely with Sales, Account Management, Delivery, and our offshore EDI teams to shape solutions, support client presentations, and guide delivery. This is not a pure EDI development or production-support role. We need someone who combines deep EDI knowledge with strong consulting, architecture, communication, and pre-sales skills. Key Responsibilities 1. Client-Facing EDI Architecture & Consulting Act as a senior EDI technical advisor for strategic and prospective clients. Run discovery workshops with client business and technical teams to understand applications, trading partners, integration patterns, and operational challenges. Assess existing EDI architecture and design scalable, maintainable EDI / B2B solutions. Define target-state architecture for new implementations, migrations, consolidations, and modernization initiatives, covering security, monitoring, scalability, and supportability. Communicate recommendations clearly to both technical and business stakeholders. 2. Pre-Sales & Solutioning Partner with Sales and Account Management on new opportunities and account expansion. Join client discovery calls, technical workshops, RFP / RFI responses, and solution presentations. Convert client requirements into practical solutions, including architecture, technical approach, assumptions, dependencies, and implementation strategy. Support scoping, effort estimation, and resource planning with delivery teams. Identify technical risks early in the sales cycle and recommend mitigation. 3. EDI Modernization & Transformation Evaluate legacy EDI environments and opportunities for platform migration or consolidation. Design hybrid models that combine traditional EDI with API-based integration. Improve trading partner onboarding, monitoring, automation, and operational efficiency. Build practical modernization roadmaps that do not disrupt stable, business-critical integrations. 4. Delivery & Offshore Team Leadership Translate client discussions into clear technical direction for offshore EDI architects, leads, developers, and support teams. Review solution designs and architecture produced by delivery teams, and provide oversight during implementation when needed. Mentor EDI leads and developers, and help them understand the client's business processes and objectives. Act as the bridge between client stakeholders, US teams, and offshore delivery. 5. Strategic Account Growth Build trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders in strategic accounts. Look beyond the immediate project to identify where our EDI and integration capabilities can add value, including modernization, platform consolidation, managed services, and automation. Help position the company as a long-term EDI and integration partner, not only a project delivery vendor. EDI & Integration Knowledge Standards and formats: ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML / JSON, flat-file and proprietary formats. Connectivity: AS2, SFTP / FTP, HTTPS, VAN-based connectivity, APIs / REST-based integration. Delivery practices: trading partner onboarding, mapping and translation, acknowledgments, error handling, monitoring, and exception management. Integration of EDI platforms with ERP and business applications; experience with purchase orders, acknowledgments, invoices, ASNs, shipment, and inventory transactions.
