Head of Content & Production, True Crime Streaming App

๐ŸŒ Remote ยท United States ๐Ÿ’ผ Full-time

We're hiring a Head of Content & Production for TrueShort, an AI-native true crime streaming app. This is for a true crime producer with great taste who's also really AI-savvy and a great, emotionally intelligent manager. In about a year we've built a catalog of around 1,500 series across docuseries, audiobooks, podcasts and Reddit stories, and it grows every week. We've raised VC money and we're growing our teams. You'll own TrueShort's content day to day. You'll decide what we make, make sure it's accurate and compelling, run the team that makes it, and keep finding ways to make it better. You'll get full onboarding with documentation and video walkthroughs of everything we do, and you'll work closely with him through the transition. After that you'll report to our founder. -----What you'll do Decide which cases we turn into stories. We have real data on what performs in the app, and you'll use it along with your own instincts to pick cases that are genuinely compelling. Keep an ear to the ground on the cases people are talking about right now, so we can tell stories while they're trending. Make sure fact-checking is airtight across everything we make. We work from first-tier sources such as court records, official statements and reputable news outlets. Lead and support the entire content team. That's our content review manager, three content operations people, our docuseries editors and our social media manager. Give strong editorial notes on docuseries cuts, scripts, key art and posters. Own our case and series trackers and keep our publishing cadence on schedule. Work with the true crime creators who host some of our docuseries, and help us bring more of them in. Run paid ads for specific stories, especially when a case is trending. Work with engineering on regular retention reports, and turn what we learn into what we make next. Keep testing new AI tools and new formats to make our content better and more varied. Recruit and hire great people when the team needs them. -----You're a great fit if: You know true crime really well and can tell pretty quickly whether a case is gripping or just sad and dry. You have real experience producing or editing true crime or nonfiction, in video, audio or both. You've managed a remote team and people liked working for you. You use AI tools every day for real work. Claude in particular, since we run a lot of our work through Claude Projects. You're a stickler for accuracy. You're resourceful and enjoy figuring things out when tools and workflows change. Your written and spoken English is fully fluent. Bonus if you've worked with social media content creators or talent, run paid social ads, or worked at a streaming service or podcast network. -----How we work We're fully remote and pretty async. We use Slack, Google Drive, Frame.io and Claude, along with our own AI production platform. Our culture is built on respect, patience and kindness. We take deadlines seriously, and nobody rushes or talks down to anyone. -----The details Full time, 40 hours a week, as a long term contract. $4,500 to $8,000 a month, depending on experience. Remote. US based ideally, with at least 4 hours a day of overlap with Pacific Time. -----How to apply Apply here with your resume and answer the screening questions. Then email 2 or 3 pieces of relevant work to [email protected], with a line on what your role was on each. True crime, nonfiction or AI-driven production work only, please. Put VERDICT in the subject line so we know you read the whole post. From there, shortlisted people get a promo code for the app and send us their honest take on what we could do better. Finalists do a paid test, and the person we pick starts with a 30-day paid trial. Thanks so much for your interest. We look forward to hearing from you!
