🌍 Remote · United States 💼 Full-time

Remote within the United States Full-time Pay: $60,000-$90,000 Who we are Vitae Tools is a set of career tools for people in the middle of a job search. A job search usually means several versions of one résumé, a growing list of applications and a folder of cover letters, and it is easy to lose track of which version went where. Vitae connects those pieces: a résumé builder with PDF export, résumé version control, an application tracker that links each application to the exact résumé you sent, a cover letter generator and shareable résumé links. We started Vitae because we lost track of our own searches. We are a small founding team that builds the product, the marketing and the infrastructure ourselves. There is a free plan, and we try to be straight about limits and pricing. Why this role matters Vitae is mostly a frontend product. The résumé editor, the template designer, the application tracker and the cover letter tools are all screens that people spend hours in, usually while they are stressed about time and money. Whether a form explains its errors, whether a template exports cleanly to PDF, whether the whole page works from a keyboard: that is the product. This role exists so those details get dedicated attention. What you’ll work on Build and refine screens in the React and TypeScript web app: the résumé builder, the application tracker, cover letters and share links. Make interfaces accessible: keyboard paths, labels, focus states, and error messages that tell people how to fix the problem. Work on templates and the export flow (PDF, Word and JSON backup) so that what people see in the editor matches what they send. Fix bugs found in real use: reproduce the problem, find the cause, add a test, ship the fix. Write component tests with Vitest and end-to-end browser tests with Playwright. Review changes with the founding team, who build the backend and infrastructure, and have your own changes reviewed. Work on the public marketing site as well as the app. It is a React app too. Must have Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript or TypeScript, and of a component-based framework. We use React. Something you have built that runs in a browser: a project, internship, bootcamp, open source contribution or job. Be ready to show us. Care for the basics of accessibility: semantic HTML, form labels, keyboard use and colour contrast. The habit of explaining your decisions in writing, and of asking when you are stuck. Nice to have Experience with Vite, Vitest or Playwright. Comfort with Git and code review. Curiosity about how documents are laid out: templates, fonts, page breaks. Your own recent job search, so you know the product from the user's side.
