Loan Officer
Job Summary As a Loan Officer, you’ll guide clients through mortgage and other lending options, from initial conversations to loan closing. You’ll assess financial information, explain terms clearly, and coordinate with processing, underwriting, and servicing teams. Your work calls for strong customer service, sound judgment, and careful attention to lending requirements. Duties Build client relationships, identify lending needs, and support loan origination through clear communication and responsive service. Review applications, credit information, contracts, and supporting documents; apply basic math and credit analysis to assess eligibility and risk. Coordinate loan processing, underwriting, escrow, and mortgage servicing activities using Loan Origination Systems (LOS), Quicken, and other financial software. Explain loan terms and requirements, negotiate appropriate options, and maintain accurate records while following applicable regulations, including Fair Housing rules and the Truth in Lending Act (TILA). Your impact: By guiding clients through accurate, compliant loan decisions, you help borrowers understand their options and support responsible lending. Experience Loan officer experience or relevant experience in mortgage lending, retail lending, banking, financial services, or financial sales. Knowledge of loan origination, mortgage services, loan processing, FNMA (Federal National Mortgage Association) guidelines, and financial and banking regulatory compliance. Familiarity with underwriting, mortgage servicing, accounting software, and compliance with loan regulations; commercial lending analysis experience in risk and credit is a plus. Strong negotiation, sales, relationship-building, client communication, and customer service skills. Basic math and 10-key typing ability; industry knowledge of financial regulations and financial compliance preferred.
