This position is responsible for assisting Extension staff with document remediation and validation. Student workers will be trained in the basics of remediation, accessibility testing, and using a screen reader. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating accessible digital experiences and helping others learn. Students with a background or interest in disability studies and accessible design are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate is reliable, able to learn new skills, and adaptable to changing priorities. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Important: do not visit Extension offices without an invitation.
Requirements
Currently enrolled, full-time undergraduate student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Good academic standing upon application and maintained during employment
Skills
Strong organizational skills Ability to prioritize tasks Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work as part of a remote team (Zoom, Teams, etc.) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Excel, PowerPoint and Word Knowledge of HTML, CSS, graphic design, or experience with assistive technology are a plus. Previous experience with remediation is beneficial but not required.
Currently enrolled full-time undergraduate at UIUC, good academic standing, strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to work in a remote team.
