Part-Time Staff Accountant – Path to Full-Time (Hybrid, Encino)
Job Overview We’re a growing CPA firm in Encino serving businesses, real estate investors, medical practices, attorneys, nonprofits, and individuals. This role starts part-time and is designed to become full-time. It’s ideal for an accounting student finishing a degree, or someone early in their career who wants hands-on training directly from a CPA. How the role grows Now through tax season: part-time, 20–25 hours a week, learning our bookkeeping and tax workflows with direct mentorship Tax season (Feb–April): more hours available if your schedule allows Full-time: we plan to convert this role to full-time after tax season or upon graduation, based on performance and schedule, with a pay increase at conversion What you’ll do Monthly and annual bookkeeping for business clients in QuickBooks Online (reconciliations, categorization, month-end close) Review work from bookkeeping support Prepare individual tax returns (1040s), sales tax filings, city business tax returns, and 1099s Communicate with clients to collect documents and answer routine questions As you grow, take on business returns (1120-S, 1065), tax planning, and more complex work What we’re looking for Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting Some bookkeeping, tax, or accounting internship experience (VITA volunteers welcome) Familiarity with QuickBooks Online; Lacerte experience is a plus (we’ll train) Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable talking with clients Interest in pursuing the CPA license strongly preferred Schedule: Flexible part-time hours that work around classes.
