About The Role Techcos is seeking a Full Stack PHP/MySQL Laravel Developer to help build, maintain, and improve our web applications. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will work closely with designers and internal teams to turn product needs into dependable, user-focused solutions. You will contribute across the development process, with a focus on back-end development and opportunities to work with related front-end technologies. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution in a growing startup environment. The position is remote for most of the time, with the expectation that you will communicate effectively and work independently when needed. As the company and its technology organization grow, there may be opportunities to take on broader leadership responsibilities, potentially progressing toward a Development Manager, Director, or Head of Development position. Growth will depend on your experience, contributions, and the needs of the business.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring professional experience developing applications with PHP, Laravel, and MySQL, along with a sound understanding of full-stack web development. You should be comfortable collaborating with a CTO, designers, and colleagues across internal teams, while also managing focused work independently. We are looking for someone who stays organized, follows through on goals, and takes a considered approach to technical decisions. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery is desired, as is experience or working knowledge of AWS, Redis, GitHub or Bitbucket, and PHP/MySQL hosting environments. You should be curious about application performance, scalability, and how product teams can better understand visitor behavior. A practical mindset is important: you know when established tools and proven approaches are more effective than building a custom solution from scratch.
Responsibilities
In this position, you will: Develop and maintain web applications using Laravel, PHP, MySQL, and related technologies. Work with the CTO, designers, and internal teams to understand requirements and deliver useful, reliable features. Contribute to improvements in the speed, functionality, and overall performance of web and mobile applications. Identify opportunities to strengthen application scalability and support the company’s evolving product needs. Explore practical ways to track how visitors use our solutions and help make that information useful to the team. Review technical challenges, recommend appropriate approaches, and avoid unnecessary complexity. Communicate progress, raise issues early, and take responsibility for agreed development goals.
