[Remote] Associate Data Scientist

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. SoTalent is hiring an Associate Data Scientist for BlackLocus in the retail industry. The role supports data science initiatives by analyzing large datasets, developing predictive models, and generating actionable insights. The position also involves collaborating with senior data professionals and business stakeholders to solve business problems and support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support analytical models and algorithms that generate valuable business insights from large and complex datasets
• Assist in executing data science projects from analysis through implementation while ensuring high-quality deliverables
• Apply statistical, predictive, and analytical techniques to solve business challenges and uncover opportunities
• Collaborate with senior data science professionals to select and apply appropriate methodologies and analytical approaches
• Develop business domain knowledge to create more effective and impactful solutions
• Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences
• Support the creation of reports, presentations, dashboards, and project updates
• Communicate the business impact of insights and recommendations to drive informed decision-making
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and align solutions with organizational objectives
• Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in data science and analytics
• Continuously strengthen technical, analytical, and business knowledge
• Explore opportunities to apply new techniques and methodologies to business challenges
• Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
• Work closely with data scientists, analysts, business partners, and cross-functional teams
• Report to a manager or senior leader within the analytics organization
• This position does not include direct people management responsibilities

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a passion for working with data
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and findings effectively
• Legal authorization to work in the applicable country of employment
• Master's degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, or a related field
• Experience with Python or other modern scripting languages for data analysis and modeling
• Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries to extract and analyze data
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and large-scale datasets
• Experience with predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and data mining techniques
• Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and presentation development
• Understanding of statistical methodologies used to identify trends, patterns, and business opportunities
• Exposure to specialized data science disciplines such as optimization, recommendation systems, natural language processing (NLP), search technologies, or computer vision
