[Remote] Consumer Finance Litigation Associate

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Husch Blackwell is hiring a Consumer Finance Litigation Associate to defend financial services companies in state and federal courts and handle consumer protection and mortgage-related litigation. The associate will work primarily with attorneys in the firm’s Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit.

Responsibilities

• The candidate will work primarily with attorneys in our Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit

Skills

• The candidate should have experience defending financial services companies in both state and federal courts, along with a working knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and other federal and state consumer protection statutes
• The ideal candidate will also have experience representing mortgage servicers and/or originators in contested foreclosures, quiet title actions, title disputes, and related claims
• The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials, a commitment to the community, superior interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of working well under pressure
• The candidate should demonstrate exceptional judgment, the ability to effectively handle multiple projects, and the ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action
• Candidates should have an active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which they are applying or commit to obtaining one as soon as possible
• Candidates applying for a role in our virtual office, The Link, must be licensed in the state in which they reside
• Three to five years of relevant experience
• Candidates residing and licensed in California, Florida, New Jersey, New York, or Ohio are strongly preferred
