[Remote] Data Engineer II

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Builders Mutual provides commercial insurance and safety solutions for the contractor community. The Data Engineer II will develop and optimize data integration workflows, improve the enterprise data warehouse and data marts, ensure data quality and governance, and troubleshoot complex data pipeline issues while contributing to best practices and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT processes to support data integration
• Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements
• Work independently on assign projects to support business initiatives within agile delivery teams
• Ensure data quality and consistency by identifying and resolving data integrity issues
• Implement and monitor data governance, security, and compliance policies
• Support performance tuning of SQL queries and database structures
• Automate data workflows and improve monitoring and alerting processes
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data pipeline and infrastructure issues
• Document and standardize best practices for data engineering processes

Skills

• 3-6 years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or database administration
• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
• Solid understanding of data warehouse, data lake, and data modeling concepts
• Experience optimizing SQL queries and database performance
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
• BA/BS degree (Data, Computer Science or other related field of study preferred)
• Insurance industry experience preferred
