[Remote] Data Scientist Lead

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Ritchie Bros. is hiring a Data Scientist Lead to advance the organization’s analytics and data science capabilities. The role leads and mentors a team delivering scalable machine learning and advanced analytics solutions, partnering with IT, executive, product, and business stakeholders to develop and integrate enterprise-scale solutions.

Responsibilities

• Leverage a deep knowledge of data science, data engineering and statistics best practices to ensure that the most applicable solutions are developed
• Complete advanced analysis of the company’s customer and business data, data
• Nurture solutions through the whole chain (problem, ideation, data sourcing, experimentation, development, deployment, monitoring)
• Manage and mentor data scientists with in-depth technical oversight to foster their development and a positive, learning team environment while ensuring all work meets the expected level of quality and performance
• Team management and oversight
• Model Development, deployment and evaluation
• Meeting with and advising stakeholders
• Solving operational challenges with business units which are depended upon
• Sourcing, cleaning and understanding data in collaboration with the data management group
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills

• 10 years of demonstrated business impact through the conception, delivery, and scaling of machine learning and other analytic approaches, including machine learning and big data
• 2+ years managing and mentoring other data scientists and analysts
• 2 years of consulting or leadership experience as a data scientist
• Excellent verbal and written skills in English
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Experience working on an Agile development team
