Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Piper Maddox is recruiting for an unnamed growing clean energy business. The Legal Director - Commercial will lead complex commercial transactions and strategic partnerships, support business development and new market growth, and advise on project development and financing.
Responsibilities
- Lead the structuring, drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements and strategic transactions
- Drive commercial partnerships, joint ventures and business development initiatives
- Support M&A, project finance and tax equity transactions, working closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel
- Advise on project development matters, including project agreements, permitting and site control
- Develop scalable contracting strategies, templates and processes to support continued business growth
- Manage and develop legal team members, with scope for the team to grow alongside the business
Skills
- 8+ years of legal experience, ideally combining law firm training with substantial in-house experience
- Strong commercial contracting, negotiation and transactional experience
- Experience advising executive leadership and navigating complex commercial and financial discussions
- Exposure to M&A, joint ventures, strategic partnerships and project financing
- Strong executive presence, commercial acumen and the ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
- JD and admission to at least one U.S. state bar
- Background in renewable energy, energy services or related infrastructure sectors strongly preferred
