Crossing Hurdles is seeking a contract Bluebook Citation Specialist to review citation rubrics, identify ambiguous rules and edge cases, and create cite-checking tasks. The role applies Bluebook rules consistently and delivers accurate work on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Review existing Bluebook grading rubrics and identify unclear rules
- Identify edge cases in the rubrics and recommend handling procedures
- Create sample cite-checking tasks with realistic errors and explanations
- Build tasks across various citation types and difficulty levels
- Apply Bluebook rules consistently throughout all submissions
- Flag ambiguous cases to project coordinators for clarification
- Deliver assigned work on schedule and at the required quality level
Skills
- Current or recent law school enrollment or JD degree
- Experience with citation-checking in a law journal or law review
- Proficient understanding of The Bluebook and citation rules
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in repetitive tasks
- Ability to explain citation errors and the reasoning behind corrections
- Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines
- Law journal editing experience
