[Remote] Market Operations Analyst

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Key Capture Energy is seeking a Market Operations Analyst to support optimization of battery energy storage system dispatch across its fleet. The role monitors market conditions and strategy performance, supports real-time operations, develops bidding and trading models, analyzes datasets, and builds reports and dashboards for energy trading decisions.

Responsibilities

• Build a fundamental understand of daily energy market operations in various jurisdictions
• Monitor real-time market conditions, asset availability, and strategy performance to identify emerging risks and opportunities
• Support the management of company assets day-to-day, including via bid submission and code debugging
• Understand factors impacting electricity prices and collaborate with the team to improve price forecasts and ingest into bidding models. Develop and assess new models as necessary to improve PNL
• Design, support, and contribute to the build-out of automated power market bidding/trading strategies using Python and SQL
• Analyze and manipulate datasets in MS SQL Server. Collaborate with the development team to support the build out of necessary infrastructure for analytics work
• Build PowerBI dashboards that transform data into information that informs market decisions
• Build analytical reports and models to support energy trading
• All other duties as required

Skills

• 0-2 years of energy industry or analytical experience
• Bachelor's degree in: engineering, math, economics, computer science, chemistry, physics, finance, business, or related field
• Interest in clean energy and power markets
• Exposure to programming (SQL, Python, R, MATLAB, or similar)
• Very motivated self-starter
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Experience working with large data sets a plus
