[Remote] Retail Accountant

The role prepares and posts journal entries, reconciles accounts, supports month-end close and financial reporting, and helps maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

Responsibilities

• The Retail Accountant is a part-time, remote role responsible for supporting accurate and timely accounting activities related to retail operations
• This position includes preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end close processes
• The Retail Accountant will review and analyze financial data, support the preparation of financial statements, and help ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
• Day-to-day work involves monitoring retail transactions, identifying discrepancies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, and contributing to financial reporting for management review
• The role requires consistent communication with finance and operations stakeholders to maintain reliable financial records and support decision-making

Skills

• Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and support problem-solving
• Proficiency in journal entries (accounting) and general ledger processes
• Foundational knowledge of finance principles and retail-related financial workflows
• Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting financial reporting
• Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and collaborative working style
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Prior experience in retail or biotech accounting
