[Remote] Senior Accountant

Hire Score is leading the search for a Senior Accountant at a private-equity-backed service organization supporting educational institutions and community-based programs. The role supports full-cycle accounting, monthly close, financial reporting, general ledger accuracy, audits, and process improvements using NetSuite.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle accounting activities, including month-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP accounting standards
• Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analyses, providing insight into key business drivers and fluctuations
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and partner with AP, AR, payroll, and operations teams to resolve accounting issues
• Support external audits, internal controls, and accounting documentation to ensure compliance and audit readiness
• Utilize NetSuite to manage accounting operations, improve reporting visibility, streamline reconciliations, and drive process automation and operational efficiencies

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• At least 5 years of full cycle accounting experience with significant month-end close and general ledger responsibilities
• Hands-on accounting user of Oracle NetSuite ERP, including journal entries, general ledger management, and financial reporting including ability to produce and analyze financial statements
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, reconciliations, financial statements, and annual audit support
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, accountability, and ability to meet deadlines independently
• Accounting degree
• Experience leveraging AI for reporting and analysis
• Experience with multi-entity or multi-location organizations
• Background in management consulting, education, staffing, healthcare, or other service-based businesses
• Experience improving accounting controls, NetSuite implementations, or financial reporting processes
• Experience in a high-growth or private equity-backed environment
