[Remote] Senior Back-end AI Software Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Amtex Systems Inc is seeking a Senior Back-end AI Software Engineer to develop and support production-quality software for AI products. The role focuses on scalable backend systems and APIs, integrating AI capabilities, and supporting production reliability and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support production-quality software supporting related AI products
• Build and enhance scalable applications, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Collaborate with machine learning scientists and engineers to integrate AI capabilities into products, agents, and workflows
• Work closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to define practical technical solutions
• Break down complex or ambiguous requirements into well-defined engineering tasks
• Contribute to architecture, technical standards, coding practices, and engineering best practices
• Troubleshoot performance, reliability, scalability, and integration issues in production environments
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, Agile ceremonies, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide technical mentorship and support to other engineers
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, testing, and documentation

Skills

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience designing and developing large-scale, distributed, or cloud-based systems
• Strong hands-on experience with Python
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, preferably using FastAPI
• Experience working with PostgreSQL or another relational database
• Strong understanding of microservices and distributed-systems architecture
• Experience with Docker and containerized application development
• Experience with automated testing and test-driven development practices
• Experience with Kafka or comparable messaging, streaming, or queueing technology
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and Agile/Scrum development practices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Demonstrated experience using AI technologies, including large language models, AI agents, or AI-enabled development tools
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native application deployment
• Experience building AI-powered products, agents, platforms, or developer tools
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or comparable tools
• Experience working with machine learning engineers, data scientists, or applied AI teams
• Experience operating software in security-sensitive, regulated, government, or mission-critical environments
• Experience with observability, performance optimization, and production operations
• Experience working in an early-stage, high-growth, or highly entrepreneurial technology environment
