Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Optomi is partnering with a leading consulting company to hire a Senior FinOps Analyst. The role supports cloud financial management, cost optimization, forecasting, anomaly investigation, and financial governance, while advising technical and business stakeholders on cloud spending.
Responsibilities
- FinOps Advisory & Cost Optimization: Partner with engineering, finance, and business teams to analyze cloud spending and recommend cost-saving opportunities
- FinOps Development & Governance: Improve cost allocation, tagging standards, showback/chargeback reporting, spend visibility, and financial accountability
- Forecasting & Financial Analysis: Develop cloud spend forecasts and analyze budgets, usage trends, and variances across AWS, GCP, and other cloud environments
- Cost Anomaly Detection: Investigate unexpected spending increases, billing discrepancies, and unusual resource usage; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Cloud Billing & Reporting: Analyze cloud costs using tools such as IBM Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Cost and Usage Reports (CUR), and GCP Cloud Billing
- Stakeholder Reporting: Translate cloud cost data into actionable recommendations for technical and business stakeholders
- AI/LLM Cost Management: Where applicable, forecast and optimize costs associated with AI infrastructure and LLM usage
Skills
- Experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, cloud cost optimization, financial analysis, or a related field
- Experience analyzing cloud billing data and identifying opportunities to reduce cloud infrastructure costs
- Knowledge of at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS or GCP, and its associated billing and cost management capabilities
- Experience with a cloud financial management platform or native billing solution, such as IBM Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Cost and Usage Reports, or GCP Cloud Billing
- Experience with cloud spend forecasting, budgeting, trend analysis, variance analysis, or financial modeling
- Ability to investigate cost anomalies, identify spending drivers, and recommend corrective actions
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advise both technical and business teams
- Understanding of how cloud architecture, resource utilization, and engineering decisions impact cloud spending
