[Remote] Senior Manager, Machine Learning Engineering - Communication & Connectivity

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Airbnb is a hospitality platform serving guests and hosts through stays, experiences, communication tools, and connectivity solutions. The Senior Manager will lead machine learning, data engineering, and AI initiatives, establish technical roadmaps, partner cross-functionally to deliver ML products, and mentor engineering leaders and teams.

Responsibilities

• Drive alignment across engineering, product, and leadership on AI investment priorities and set the multi-year technical roadmap
• Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to take high-impact ML initiatives from concept to production
• Ensure high-quality, efficient data pipelines that support both business and AI needs
• Define and own success metrics that tie ML work directly to business outcomes
• Grow and mentor a team of ML/Data engineers, raising the technical bar across the org
• Lead and mentor a senior team of Managers and Engineers across Machine Learning, Data Engineering and Software Engineering
• This role is highly cross functional so you will partner with senior leadership across Engineering, Data Science, Product, and across our Business to align stakeholders, define multi-year roadmaps, set and execute on iterative milestones
• Coaching and developing team members, helping them grow their careers, technical expertise, and collaboration skills

Skills

• 12+ years of overall engineering experience with 5+ years managing a team in a fast paced, high growth tech environment
• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or related field
• Experience building, leading, and architecting full-stack products and systems at enterprise scale with a great impact
• Experience in applying modern artificial intelligence technologies to products and development cycles
• Technical leadership: hands on experience leading project teams, setting technical direction and strategy, and working cross functionally with Product and Data Science teams
• Strong communication and collaboration skills. Examples of working across teams and organizations on technical initiatives
• This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
