[Remote] Software Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Coursedog is a remote-first company providing an Intelligent Academic Operations Platform for colleges and universities. The Software Engineer will build and maintain backend services, APIs, and frontend applications while collaborating cross-functionally to deliver features, resolve issues, and improve existing systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs
• Develop and maintain frontend applications using TypeScript and Vue (or similar frameworks)
• Design, implement, and maintain well-structured, testable code
• Review pull requests and provide constructive, actionable feedback
• Debug and improve existing systems, including legacy components
• Improve existing systems, including legacy components, through debugging and refactoring
• Use AI tools to work more efficiently across coding, debugging, and documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver features and resolve issues
• Establish and document engineering best practices that raise the bar for the whole team

Skills

• Experience writing TypeScript and modern JavaScript in production applications
• Experience building frontend applications with Vue.js or a similar framework
• Experience developing backend services with Node.js
• Knowledge of REST APIs and software design principles
• Experience working with databases such as MongoDB, Redis, and relational databases
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Ability to learn new systems quickly in ambiguous problem spaces
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical partners
• Experience using AI tools to speed up development while maintaining code quality
• Experience with AWS, queues, or serverless systems (e.g., Lambda)
• Exposure to AI-powered or AI-adjacent systems
• Backend experience beyond Node.js (e.g., Python, Java, .NET)
