Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The client builds mission-critical software for military logistics and sustainment. The Forward Deployed Software Engineer works with military customers to design, develop, integrate, deploy, and support software, owning projects from concept through delivery and improving system reliability and performance.
Responsibilities
- Work side-by-side with end users to understand their hardest problems, then design and deliver software that solves them
- Own features from concept to deployment, including prototyping, integrating with existing systems and ensuring performance in demanding real-world environments
- Collaborate across engineering, product, design and operations to build scalable systems and drive complex projects to completion
- Monitor and improve reliability and performance by instrumenting code, analyzing metrics, diagnosing issues and iterating on fixes
- Balance short-term urgency with long-term maintainability, making practical trade-offs
- Travel to deploy, field-test and support software, gathering feedback directly from users in operational settings
Skills
- 4+ years as a full-stack software engineer in a customer-facing role, such as forward deployed engineer
- Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, C or C++
- Strong ownership and an execution-oriented mindset
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and deliver reliable, high-quality outcomes on time
