Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Robert Half is recruiting for an undisclosed client seeking a Senior Accountant in New York, NY. The role focuses on investigating historical financial transactions, resolving discrepancies, maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting accurate financial reporting and month-end close across multiple entities.
Responsibilities
- Analyze historical accounting records to identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies
- Prepare and post accurate journal entries to maintain compliance with accounting standards
- Develop and maintain comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring audit readiness and transparency
- Manage accounting tasks across international entities, including handling multi-currency transactions and intercompany activity
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items to ensure clarity in account activity
- Contribute to financial cleanup efforts across multiple entities and international operations
- Document findings and provide recommendations to improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Utilize NetSuite software to manage complex accounting tasks and resolve historical transaction issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support accurate financial reporting and compliance
- Assist with month-end close processes, including general ledger and account reconciliation tasks
Skills
- This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, with a proven track record in balance sheet reconciliations
- Strong analytical skills to review historical transactions and resolve discrepancies
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions for data analysis and reporting
- Ability to work independently and manage investigative accounting tasks with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with accounting practices in detail-oriented services or multinational organizations
- Knowledge of multi-entity operations, including multi-currency transactions and intercompany reconciliations
