Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Robert Half is recruiting for a public accounting firm seeking a Senior Accountant. The role maintains accurate financial records, supports tax reporting and preparation, and handles general ledger activities, reconciliations, and month-end close.
Responsibilities
- Oversee month-end accounting activities, including preparing entries, reviewing balances, and helping ensure deadlines are met accurately
- Maintain the general ledger by recording financial activity, analyzing account movement, and resolving discrepancies as they arise
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support to reflect routine and adjusting transactions
- Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and investigate variances to keep records accurate and current
- Complete bank reconciliations and follow up on unmatched transactions or timing differences
- Support tax accounting processes by organizing financial data, assisting with tax reporting, and helping maintain compliance with applicable requirements
- Contribute during tax season by managing accounting schedules, reconciling supporting documentation, and assisting with filing-related preparation
- Use UltraTax and related systems to support tax preparation workflows and financial reporting needs
Skills
- At least 3 years of accounting experience in a senior-level or closely related role
- Strong working knowledge of month-end close procedures, general ledger activity, and journal entry preparation
- Experience performing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy
- Background in tax accounting, tax reporting, and supporting deliverables during tax season
- Proficiency with UltraTax or comparable tax software used in accounting environments
- Ability to analyze financial information, identify inconsistencies, and manage multiple priorities effectively
- CPA designation or progress toward certification
