[Remote] Supervisor Accountant - Tax & Small Business

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A. is hiring a Supervisor Accountant for Tax & Small Business to oversee financial statement engagements and tax compliance for for-profit businesses. The role includes preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax returns, resolving accounting and tax issues, and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

• Planning, executing and supervising compilation, review and audit engagements for a variety of for-profit organizations
• Preparing and analyzing financial statements, up through technical review
• Preparing complex tax returns
• Making inquiries to various tax authorities
• Supervising and prioritizing simultaneous engagements, including appropriate delegation of duties
• Reviewing changes in work performed from prior years, considering changes in clients’ accounting procedures, and making adjustments to comply with changes in tax laws or accounting pronouncements
• Resolving accounting problems and tax issues
• Mentoring new staff on assignments

Skills

• Experience or advanced technical knowledge in financial statements (compilations, reviews and audits) and tax compliance for for-profit business entities, including preparing and reviewing work papers and preparing the financial statements and returns needed for tax compliance
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 5–7 years of public accounting experience in a tax environment
• CPA certification
• Supervisory experience and client relations skills
• Working knowledge of GAAP and small business tax compliance
• Ability to work independently
• Working knowledge of ProSystem/Axcess software, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, Microsoft Office and other programs related to tax planning, depreciation and accounting
