Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Romega Solutions is recruiting on behalf of an unnamed client in the advanced materials and semiconductor industry. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will design and develop high-temperature processing equipment, taking mechanical hardware from concept through manufacturing and supporting reactor improvements and space-related applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead 3D mechanical design of crystal-growth reactors, annealing systems, furnaces, and related equipment using CATIA or Creo
- Develop detailed assemblies, production drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and GD&T-toleranced designs
- Take designs from concept through manufacturing, collaborating with machine shops and fabrication vendors
- Apply design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles to improve performance, cost, and production efficiency
- Support design and development of high-temperature systems for aluminum nitride (AlN) crystal growth and aluminum oxynitride (AlON) coating processes
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment, improve existing reactor designs, and enhance production performance
- Contribute to advanced hardware development for space-related applications, considering launch loads, vibration, thermal cycling, and flight safety requirements
- Use thermal simulation or CFD tools where applicable to validate designs and guide engineering improvements
Skills
- U.S.-based applicants only
- Approximately 7–10 years; more experienced candidates are welcome
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- U.S. citizens or permanent residents only
- Approximately 7–10 years of hands-on mechanical design experience
- Strong 3D CAD proficiency in CATIA or Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) — this is the primary technical requirement
- Proven experience taking mechanical designs from concept through detailed drawings, release, fabrication, and validation
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance stack-up analysis, DFM, and DFA
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- An advanced degree is a plus
- Experience with high-temperature processing equipment, vacuum systems, crystal growth, semiconductor materials, sintering, hot pressing, or thin-film deposition is highly desirable
- Familiarity with thermal simulation tools such as ANSYS Fluent or COMSOL is an advantage
- Experience with space vehicles, flight hardware, launch qualification, or space-environment requirements is a plus
Benefits
