SAP S/4HANA MDG Finance Lead Consultant
Job Title: SAP S/4HANA MDG Lead Consultant Location: USA (Remote) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Master Data Governance (MDG) Lead Consultant to lead enterprise-wide Master Data Governance initiatives across SAP S/4HANA transformation programs. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP MDG architecture, master data management, governance frameworks, data quality, workflow design, and system integrations. In this role, you will be responsible for defining and governing end-to-end MDG solutions across multiple master data domains, including Material, Customer, Supplier, Business Partner, and Finance. You will work closely with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, data owners, and technical teams to deliver scalable, secure, and standardized master data solutions aligned with SAP best practices and S/4HANA Clean Core principles.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end SAP MDG solution architecture and implementation across Material, Customer, Supplier, Business Partner, and Financial master data domains. Design and configure MDG data models, change request processes, workflows, BRF+ rules, validations, derivations, and approval processes. Architect and oversee integrations between SAP MDG, SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP Ariba, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP BTP, SAP CPI/PI-PO, and non-SAP systems. Design and implement data replication frameworks using Data Replication Framework (DRF), IDocs, APIs, OData services, and other integration technologies. Lead master data quality, cleansing, enrichment, migration, harmonization, and standardization initiatives. Establish enterprise data governance policies, standards, controls, and processes to ensure master data consistency, accuracy, and compliance. Ensure MDG architecture aligns with SAP best practices, S/4HANA Clean Core principles, and enterprise architecture standards. Lead MDG workstreams, technical design reviews, architecture governance, and global, multi-country implementation rollouts. Collaborate with business stakeholders, functional teams, enterprise architects, data owners, and senior leadership to translate business requirements into scalable MDG solutions. Provide technical leadership, resolve complex design and integration challenges, and mentor project team members. Support testing, deployment, cutover, production readiness, and post-go-live stabilization activities. Required Qualifications and Skills 10–15+ years of SAP experience, preferably with a strong background in SAP Finance and enterprise master data management. At least 5 years of hands-on SAP MDG implementation experience, including solution design, configuration, and deployment. Strong expertise in SAP MDG, SAP S/4HANA, Master Data Management (MDM), and enterprise data governance. Hands-on experience with MDG-M (Material), MDG-BP (Business Partner), Customer, Supplier, and MDG Financials. In-depth knowledge of MDG data models, change requests, workflow configuration, BRF+, validation and derivation rules, and approval processes. Strong understanding of Data Quality Management (DQM), Key/Value Mapping, and Data Replication Framework (DRF). Experience with SAP Fiori and integration technologies, including SAP BTP, SAP CPI, PI/PO, IDocs, APIs, and OData services. Proven experience designing enterprise-scale MDG solutions and integrating master data processes across complex SAP landscapes. Knowledge of data migration, data cleansing, harmonization, data quality controls, and governance best practices. Strong solution architecture, technical leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with business and technical teams across global organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
SAP MDG and/or SAP S/4HANA certifications. Knowledge of SAP Datasphere and its role in enterprise data management and analytics. Experience leading global SAP S/4HANA transformation programs and multi-country MDG rollouts. Familiarity with SAP Clean Core strategy, modern integration architectures, and enterprise data governance frameworks.
