About brighthush

brighthush is a trailblazing technology partner that empowers U.S. federal agencies to deliver secure, compliant, and future‑ready information systems. Our mission is to bridge the gap between cutting‑edge technology and operational excellence, transforming legacy infrastructures into agile, data‑driven platforms that protect national security, safeguard citizen data, and streamline public service delivery. With multidisciplinary teams of seasoned IT professionals, business analysts, and subject‑matter experts, we solve complex challenges in the public sector. At brighthush, innovation, integrity, and customer success are not just buzzwords; they are the foundation of every project we undertake.

Why This Role Matters

As a Strategic IT Customer Liaison, you will be the linchpin that connects agency stakeholders with our engineering teams. Your insights will shape product roadmaps, influence technology decisions, and ensure that every solution aligns with agency priorities and regulatory requirements. Working remotely, you’ll enjoy the flexibility to balance professional growth with personal commitments while contributing to high‑impact federal projects that serve millions of citizens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and Maintain Strategic Bridges: Serve as the primary conduit between agency stakeholders and engineering teams, translating complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies that protect OIG technical resources and enhance customer service.
  • Lifecycle Gap Management: Identify and close gaps across the development lifecycle—especially in pre‑discovery, customer engagement, and post‑deployment stabilization—to prevent costly rework and keep projects on schedule.
  • Strategic Gatekeeping & ROI Assessment: Collect, evaluate, and prioritize technical ideas from the customer base, assigning projected ROI and triaging data‑analytics requests to maximize impact while minimizing duplication.
  • Pre‑Discovery & Upstream Software Lifecycles: Lead exploratory pre‑discovery and discovery phases, engage with customer working groups, and proactively analyze current business processes to uncover cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Roadmap Development: Partner with stakeholders to craft comprehensive strategic planning roadmaps for large‑scale projects such as application system modernizations, rebuilds, and technology refresh cycles.
  • Usability & Friction Discovery: Organize volunteer user groups to conduct usability testing, identify operational inefficiencies, and surface UX friction points that can be addressed in future iterations.
  • Milestone Accountability: Support Project Managers by communicating realistic timeframes to customers, explaining the importance of milestone deadlines (e.g., requirements, UAT), and ensuring alignment with deployment schedules.
  • UAT & Training Bridge: Act as a customer advocate during User Acceptance Testing, collaborate with QA Engineers on test plan reviews, and work with product owners on training, demos, and executive communications.
  • Post‑Deployment Tracking: Interface directly with customers during stabilization to assess satisfaction, develop success metrics, and manage the feedback loop to kickstart discovery for future v2 iterations.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting: Produce clear, concise status reports and executive summaries that keep all parties informed and aligned on progress, risks, and next steps.
  • Continuous Improvement Champion: Leverage lessons learned from each project to refine processes, tools, and best practices, fostering a culture of relentless improvement across the organization.
  • Compliance & Security Oversight: Ensure that all initiatives adhere to federal security standards, privacy regulations, and procurement policies, acting as a guardian of compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a Position of Public Trust clearance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working within an Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or related federal law enforcement environment.
  • Proven track record in business process analysis, requirement brainstorming, and pre‑discovery exploratory work.
  • Deep familiarity with federal law enforcement case management systems and operational data points.
  • Hands‑on experience as the primary business liaison to IT engineering teams—defining and prioritizing product backlogs, approving requirements, conducting UAT, delivering training, and managing operational support.
  • Strong communication, advocacy, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience testing IT products such as reports or software, and collaborating with QA teams.
  • Ability to organize volunteer groups for usability testing, surveys, or end‑user outreach.
  • Knowledge of business process optimization, especially through automation technologies (AI, applications, reporting).
  • Experience formulating long‑term strategic roadmaps (e.g., 5‑year upgrade plans for flagship systems).
  • Residency in the United States for the past 5 years and no more than 6 months of travel outside the U.S. in the last 5 years (military service excluded).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Administration).
  • Experience in government procurement, contract management, or vendor relationship management.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies, and experience working in cross‑functional Agile teams.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and reporting platforms.
  • Background in cybersecurity, data privacy, or compliance frameworks relevant to federal agencies.
  • Certifications such as PMP, Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), or ITIL Foundation.
  • Experience leading cross‑agency initiatives or multi‑stakeholder governance bodies.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture, anticipate future needs, and develop actionable roadmaps.
  • Customer Advocacy: Passion for representing the end‑user, ensuring their voice is heard throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong data‑driven decision‑making skills, with the capacity to translate complex metrics into clear business insights.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Proven ability to work with diverse teams—technical, operational, and executive—to achieve shared goals.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Project Management: Familiarity with project planning, risk management, and milestone tracking.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating changing priorities, evolving requirements, and fast‑paced environments.
  • Technical Fluency: Comfortable with modern development stacks, cloud platforms, and data analytics tools.
  • Leadership: Ability to mentor junior staff, lead workshops, and influence decision‑makers.
