Senior Accounting Consultant

Senior Accounting Consultant Remote | $50–$100/hour Depending on Experience | Contract Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Consultant to support a corporate, private equity-backed organization. This remote consulting opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who can quickly integrate into an established finance team, take ownership of key accounting functions, and help drive accurate, timely financial reporting. Key Responsibilities - Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes - Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules - Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements and management reporting - Research and resolve complex accounting and general ledger matters - Support external audit requests and preparation of audit schedules - Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls - Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and close efficiency - Partner with finance leadership on accounting initiatives and special projects - Support system implementations, integrations, accounting cleanup, and process improvement initiatives as needed Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field - Progressive accounting experience within a corporate environment - Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting - Demonstrated experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations - Experience supporting audits and maintaining effective internal controls - Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting system skills - Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and effectively partner with cross-functional stakeholders - Experience within a private equity-backed, high-growth, or evolving corporate environment preferred - CPA and/or public accounting experience preferred - Experience with ERP implementations, M&A integration, or finance transformation initiatives is a plus About Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing connects experienced professionals with organizations seeking specialized talent across accounting, finance, and other critical business functions.
